“Hi! I’m Monkey! You may think Monkey is a funny name for a chihuahua but I think I got the name because monkeys are so smart? I AM a smart girl and cute too. I am about 10 years old. I weigh 10 pounds. I am a creamy white with some light brown markings. I love doing tricks and once I get to know my human, I am the sweetest snuggle love bug!

“I am quite proud to say that I am a well socialized girl. I am fine to share my home with other dogs as long as they don’t get up in my business too soon after we meet! After some time, making friends with other dogs who want to play not too roughly is fun. I have lived with cats and even a pig, rabbits and a turtle. Kids are OK, as long they are old enough to be gentle with me, not try to pick me up or pull upon me.

“My person is truly sad to give me up but it is necessary. I have been spending far too many hours locked up in my kennel. I am not happy about it and she’s not happy about doing it to me. I long for a home with someone who doesn’t have to kennel me too long. I can hold my potty for about 5 hours if I really have to but that’s certainly not my preference. I can stay alone inside the house when I need to, it’s not like I can’t be left alone. Perhaps you have a home where you have other friendly animals to keep me company when you have to leave? That would be nice. It’s not emotionally healthy for us dogs to never ever be left alone; just not fun for us to be crated for really long hours because we can’t hold our potty that long.

“For the most part I am pretty chill but I do get the urge sometimes to run and play! I do very well on leash but will protect you from strange dogs if I feel the need to, not viciously but as a chi does, it is our nature to protect our beloved person! I do bark when I hear visitors at the door and when you arrive back home, I will bark my “welcome home” to you. I can manage stairs fine. Please don’t adopt me if you think your neighbors won’t appreciate the “song of the chihuahua”!

“My person has kept up on my shots but I will need an adopter who can get me in for regular vet care, for the rest of my days. I hope to be around for many years to come! I am a chihuahua and if cared for properly-please remember to care for my teeth!-I could very well live into my late teens.

“If you are ready for the love and loyalty I have to offer, I am ready for the next chapter of my new life!”
