Moose
Gentle, sweet and affectionate older gentleman
Moose Needs You! Almost 2 YEARS in Foster & Running Out of Time
Moose has been in his foster home for nearly TWO YEARS, far longer than anyone ever expected. His foster family has been absolutely amazing, but they need to return him by April 3rd. We cannot let this sweet senior boy go back to the shelter. Can you be the one to step up and give Moose the home he deserves? This boy does not need much, just a safe and comfortable place to land.
About Moose:
Age: 9½ years old
Weight: 80 lbs
Health: Has allergies and takes Apoquel
House Manners: Free roams beautifully when left alone, no barking, no separation anxiety
His Personality:
Moose is a total lovebug. He adores people and is incredibly affectionate. He lives with two children and is gentle, sweet, and devoted to them. He does great meeting strangers and truly loves everyone he meets.
His favorite things:
🐾 Walks
🐾 Hugs
🐾 Tug of war with his rope
🐾 Snuggles on the couch
🐾 Being pet (he will happily soak up all the love!)
Other Dogs:
Moose can be unsure around other dogs. His fosters have mostly kept him separate, though he has had some positive interactions. He may do well with the right dog given slow, structured introductions and multiple meet-and-greets. He would also likely thrive as the only dog, soaking up all the attention.
Why He’s Being Returned:
This decision has nothing to do with Moose. His foster family has a young and increasingly busy household with two children. They never anticipated fostering for two years and feel they can’t give him the time he deserves moving forward.
They love him deeply and that’s why we’re urgently searching for his next chapter instead of letting him return to a shelter environment.
Moose is a sweet, steady, affectionate older gentleman who just wants love, routine, and a soft place to land. After nearly two years in a home, going back to a kennel would be incredibly hard on him.
This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
