Here’s Nellie!

Lovely Nellie came from someone that needed to move to assisted living in another state and no family was able to take her.  After she was posted as needing a home, a long time ODH Final Refuge family couldn’t resist.

From her new mom:

“You know how when you have to say goodbye to your pet you say “I can’t go through this again” or “I need to wait a while to heal”? Well, only one week after losing our last dog, we saw Nellie’s picture and felt like it was meant to be.

“At 15 y.o. Nellie is pretty spry and loves her walks.  In her full vetting they found she needed to be on a kidney diet, has protozoa in her stool, has a heart murmur, is totally deaf, but otherwise doing pretty well.  We’ve had her two months now and her personality is finally coming out!

“Her favorite place to sleep is the bathroom.  And the oddest thing is when she has to pee, Nellie does the splits (I’ve never seen that before).  Also, if you look real close you’ll see her nose is heart shaped!  She’s a typical cocker and begs for food by shaking her whole body.

“Nellie loves meeting new people, has learned hand signals and knows that if she looks me in the eye, then at what she wants, I’ll understand.  Smart girl!”

And it sounds like Nellie’s foster mom is well trained as well!

Update: Nellie’s health declined and her family had to say good bye.  She was a very special girl and will be greatly missed.
