Olivia

8 year old Olivia is a gem of a dog! She is said to be a Labrador/German Shorthair Pointer mix who weighs 48 pounds. Described as being “incredibly sweet and very smart”, we are told Olivia is polite and loves people a lot.

Olivia has always lived with other dogs. She doesn’t really care about the other dogs, unless they try to take her food-then she’ll tell them in an expected and acceptable way to back off. Her focus is more on her people. Olivia has lived with cats and done well around them. This nice girl gets excited about interacting with children. She loves to give kisses and enjoys the affection of kids old enough to be gentle and respectful of her.

Just because she is a senior gal, does not mean she has lost her urge to “hunt”! Olivia watches for and will chase squirrels and chipmunks. Her human tells us she has never seen Olivia catch anything but she tries! When Olivia spots a squirrel, she will sometimes bark at them. Aside from that, Olivia rarely barks. Because she has allergies, Olivia needs a limited-ingredient diet. Her owner will provide information about this to potential adopters.

If you are hoping for a good walking partner, Olivia could be your gal! She has had basic training at Petco and is good on leash. Olivia is a young senior who can manage stairs without issue. She enjoys just hanging out with her family-dogs and people. Olivia can wait a bit between potty breaks and does fine when her humans leave the house. She has lived with the same family since she was a puppy so time and compassion given to acclimate to a new life in a new home should be given. We would all want to be shown kindness if our lives changed so dramatically!

There seem to be so many good things to share about Olivia. Her human is gutted to have to give her up but is forced to. The hope is that Olivia will bond with someone new as strongly as she has with her current person. She loves to look deeply into one’s eyes and give kisses. Olivia sounds like a wonderful girl who is going to make someone’s home feel complete.
