Petey

12 year old Petey is a cutie, isn’t he? He is a 5 pound pomeranian/chihuahua mix. Petey is a friendly, loving fellow once he meets you. Petey loves a lap to sit in and he hopes to find a home with someone who will want to share their bed with him.

Petey has never lived with other dogs before or cats. We are told he is OK with other dogs. He’d be happy to remain an only dog but if that’s not possible, he would prefer calm, mellow dogs who are closer to his size. Petey grew up with kids but at this point in his life, he’s ready for a no-child home or one with kids who are old enough to respect his space and be gentle with him.

Petey needs an adopter who can afford the vetting he needs; he’s not had regular vetting and he needs a dental. One would hope with routine vet care and good food, Petey could live comfortably for a few more years. Petey has had only one home his whole life, it will be an adjustment to be rehomed. Ideally this will be the last time he’ll lose his home.

We are told Petey needs a potty break during the day about every 3 hours. At first it may take time for Petey to be OK when his new human leaves the house. He can usually stay home alone without becoming too anxious. It sounds like Petey would do best in a home where people are around more often than not.

Petey doesn’t expect a lot of exercise. He’s not had much experience on a leash. He does enjoy getting out in his fenced yard to sniff and explore. Petey doesn’t enjoy car rides but he loves to cuddle with his stuffed teddy bear toy he’s had since he was a puppy!
