Meka and Stella

Best friends Meka and Stella have been together forever, or so they believe! Meka is about 8 years old, a lovely girl who is a 46 pound mixed breed. Stella is 11 years old, she weighs 79 pounds and appears to be a shepherd mix. The girls’ human passed away and a family friend is keeping them but cannot do so for very much longer. Meka and Stella need a home very soon and the hope is, they will find one where they can continue to remain together.

These friends are said to be fine with other small, friendly dogs. Neither dog appreciates cats or squirrels. It is unknown how Meka and Stella would do around kids as they’ve never been exposed to them so the belief is, a home with older kids aged 10 and over, would be O.K..

We are told Meka can be a bit skittish when meeting new people. Once she gets to know you, she is a sweet and loving girl. Stella is said to be friendly and well behaved although sometimes she can get a little annoyed by Meka when she’s being too active. Meka is a spry girl whereas Stella appears to have some arthritis; her hips seem to be bothering her. She is currently not taking anything to help for that. Meka and Stella’s new owner should be able and willing to get both girls vetted and commit to their vet care and good food for the rest of their days. All dogs deserve this!

At this time both girls can manage quite a while without needing a potty break. This could change for Stella sooner than it will for Meka. They are used to being together inside the house but both enjoy spending time in a fenced yard when the weather permits. Both girls will bark at dogs and people passing by the house as so many dogs will!

Meka easily does stairs. Stella can still do stairs but it would be in her best interest to have a home without too many stairs to navigate as time goes on. One must keep in mind her size and that she won’t be a dog easily carried up and down stairs. We are told the girls will pull on leash so one must be able to manage that and perhaps work with them on leash manners.
