Riley
His own Aussie Posse
Meet Riley, a dapper gentleman of the ripe young age of 10. He is on the hunt for his forever person, and hasn’t had much luck so far. His previous owners recently decided to expand their human family but the chaos of a new baby was very stressful for this senior boy, who thought he was the “baby.”
Since coming into rescue, it has been observed that Riley hasn’t had a lot of socializing. He prefers to spend his days at home with only the occasional outing to get a pup cup at the coffee shop. He loves to hang his head out the car window, with tongue lolling and the wind blowing through his feathery ear hair sideburns.
Riley is a pint-sized Aussie, at just 27 pounds, so he is a perfect co-pilot size. His favorite things are mellow evening porch sitting, patrols around his fenced-in yard at regular intervals, and keeping things in order, as self-appointed fun police. Riley is still quite agile and active for his age, but he does enjoy the quiet life. In fact, he demands it! Picture the old guy sitting on the porch, yelling at kids to stay off his lawn!! He would really be happy to live in a quiet neighborhood or on rural property, where he doesn’t have to be bothered with passers-by, rowdy kids playing in the cul-de-sac, or Amazon drivers who don’t heed his heckling, bluff-bullying!
This handsome fellow doesn’t have a mean bone in his body but he takes his herding breed dog job seriously, and he appreciates consistency and serenity. Riley has never been crate trained but he can stay home alone for a few hours easily. He is not a typical Velcro Aussie as he is fairly independent. He likes to hang out nearby, play an occasional game of get the toy, and teach his human some tricks just for fun. Riley has lived with other dogs, cats and chickens.
