Rosie
Loving and energetic girl
8 year old Rosie is a 15-pound long-haired chihuahua. We don’t have to tell you how adorable she is because you can see it! Rosie is an independent young senior who will climb into your lap for cuddles.
Rosie has lived her life with other dogs and she is over that! Rosie is ready to be an only pet. She does not want to share her home with another dog or cat. Currently, she lives with a young child and Rosie finds that very stressful. Rosie will be happiest in a home without kids.
Life changes have made Rosie’s housetraining unpredictable. We are told that when she was younger, she was housetrained. A home with a fenced yard with someone who can get her outside for potty breaks on a schedule could help tremendously. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, so one must be patient and show compassion to Rosie.
At this time, Rosie spends her days in the kitchen, so she does not have free rein in the house. Rosie sleeps in her crate at night. She had been sleeping in her human’s bed up until two years ago. Perhaps she could go back to sleeping with her human in her new home? We would recommend time for Rosie to get to know her new people before trying. Gaining a dog’s trust and devotion is so rewarding!
Rosie loves going for walks! Taking a dog for a walk is a great way to build a relationship with a dog. Rosie would love space to run and play in a secure area. She can manage stairs with no issue. We are told that Rosie does not like being picked up- that is her independent streak coming out!
If you must leave the house, Rosie is ok with that as long as her kennel is ready for her. Finding a place where she can be safely contained when you leave (such as a non-carpeted area) with her crate door open and familiar blankets for comfort could help her feel secure. After living with one person all of her life, Rosie should be shown understanding and patience. Rosie does bark, “a lot” we are told, so apartment life or a home where there are shared walls.
As with every adoption, one should be able and willing to afford veterinary care and good-quality dog food. Rosie will more than likely need a dental in the future as she has not had one since 2018.
Rosie is a loving and energetic girl who will thrive in a new home with someone familiar with the big attitude some small dogs have. Rosie is ready for the love and attention she craves.
