Sadie was being kept at a boarding facility after her owners could no longer care for her. She was sad and confused when she lost her home. Thankfully, Sadie made her way to an Old Dog Haven forever foster home, where she has received the patience, love, and compassion she needed so that she could, in turn, show her true self!

Here is what Sadie’s forever foster shared with us:

“Sadie is the feistiest Sweet Old Lady you’ll ever meet. She’s a West Highland Terrier and Shih Tzu mix, with the cutest ears. One up, one down! She came to Old Dog Haven when her owners could no longer care for her due to their own declining health. For about three months, she mourned losing them. She was happy with us, but she was also confused and a bit sad. After three months, she started really opening up her heart to us (ours were already wide open for her!) Now she asks for pets to be picked up, and follows the pack everywhere. She is usually quiet, except when she’s telling us what to do. She’s always reminding the younger dogs, “Age before beauty!” Though she has both!

We thought Sadie was 15 years old, but it turns out she’s 18! Despite her age, she’s in great health – except for a heart murmur, heart disease, and mild incontinence, which Old Dog Haven vets are treating her for. She loves going on walks (she’s so great on a leash!) and snuggling on the couch or in bed. She loves knitting with me, settling down between my knees. Before bedtime, Sadie loves to wriggle-fight her blanket. She always wins!”

Thanks to our wonderful supporters and donors, Sadie is comfortable and very happy in her permanent Old Dog Haven foster home with all the love and care an old dog deserves.
