13 year old Sam is a 67 pound shepherd mix. Sam finds himself about to be homeless as his human is losing his home. This handsome fellow needs an adoptive home very soon.

We are told Sam is fine with friendly dogs. No one is sure how Sam would do around a cat. Sam loves gentle, respectful children. His hearing isn’t as sharp as it once was. He can reportedly still climb stairs but a dog his age shouldn’t have to take too many on a regular basis. Sam is currently taking no medication or supplements. He has been recently vetted after many years without seeing a vet. Sam’s adopter should be able to take care of his veterinary needs and provide a good diet for him.

At this time Sam is living mostly outside. This was not the case until recently. In the past Sam has been able to manage up to 4 hours before he needed a potty break. Sam’s next home should be one where he can spend most of his time inside, only going outside when he needs to or wants to. He will bark if left in a kennel and not out free to move as he wishes.

Sam enjoys being active. He will walk well on leash and really enjoys going for a swim. The hope is that he will find a home with someone who is home often as he longs for the companionship of his humans. Sam sounds like a very nice dog who will make a loving addition to a family.

Sam is located in Tacoma, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
