This sweet little gentleman is Sam! He is a 10 year old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who came to CASA when his owner sadly passed away. He is now looking for a special someone who will love him just as much as his original owner did as he travels through his golden years. Although Sam can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, once he warms up he is an outgoing and cuddly boy who really loves people. He enjoys going on walks and hanging out with his people. He would make a great lap warming companion. Sam is potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. He does well with like-size dogs and cats, although it is unknown how he is with kids. Sam would do best in a calm and quiet home. He may also prefer more of an adult-centered home since he has spent his life with one older person.

Sam has had a recent dental cleaning and a senior blood panel which showed he is in great health for his age thanks to the good care and regular veterinary wellness visits his owner had afforded him over the years. He is a stout 20 lbs.

If Sam sounds like the guy you want to spend your future snuggled up with, please visit our website for information on the current adoption process, shelter changes due to COVID related restrictions, and send us an adoption application via email to start the process.

Applicants should understand that most senior dogs will end up needing common senior care as they age – such as added dental procedures, joint supplements, etc. Please be mindful of this if considering a senior pet.

*A meet and greet is required with any resident dogs in the home before adoption.

Sam is posted for the CASA shelter on Camano Island, WA, www.camanoanimalshelter.org/, 360-387-1902.

This is not an ODH dog, we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
