Sassy was turned into the shelter with loads of medical issues after her person passed away, leaving her with nowhere to go. The shelter vet diagnosed her with a heart murmur and a mildly enlarged heart, bladder stones, and what looks like an enlarged liver (could be her spleen), and bad teeth.

The shelter reached out to Old Dog Haven to help find Sassy a forever home and the medical care she would need. A wonderful foster home volunteered to give her a home where she could see a cardiologist and get a treatment plan for other medical issues.

When she arrived at the shelter, she was overwhelmed and scared, but now she is adjusting well and enjoying herself in her new and final home.

Her new foster home has a lot of experience with Chihuahuas and told us:

“This sweet old lady is as gentle as they come. Sassy joined our home in May and instantly fit right in with our pack. She enjoys a good snuggle but also values her personal space, preferring to be near her people without being the center of attention.

Sassy has a fun, lovable personality, and if you sit down for a meal, she’ll happily serenade you in hopes of earning a little taste. She’s an easygoing, wonderful companion who’s brought so much joy to our home!”

Sassy is on medications to keep her heart healthy and will be monitored for changes to her health. She will never lose her home again and will always have what she needs to be comfortable and happy.
