Slim was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter where the staff contacted Old Dog Haven for help. This adorable 15-year-old boy was extremely underweight with terrible teeth and a large mass on his side. When he arrived in his new foster home, they found he also had parasites, itchy skin and a cough. After a thorough vet exam, x-rays, and an injection to calm his skin, he was prescribed antibiotics. A few months later we are happy to report Slim has made himself at home and has made much progress with his health conditions.

His foster mom shares, “Slim joined our family almost two months ago and he’s doing great. He was pretty thin when he arrived but has gained over a pound following treatment for Giardia and a successful search for the right food. He has a lot of energy and has no trouble jumping onto the couch or tearing down the hallway after the kitties. He carries his toys around and will play fetch for a few minutes, but I think his teeth are too sensitive for much else. His favorite thing to do is hang out on the couch with mom and dad. Chores sometimes have to take a back seat when he tells us we all need to be together.  Walks are low on his priority list. Maybe he never went on them before, because he doesn’t seem to get the point.

“He’s all arms and legs and a much faster walker than his buddy, Pako, but when we want to walk with purpose, Slim goes in the carrier. Today he had his first groom and did wonderfully. He’s the sweetest little guy and we’re so thankful to have found him. Thank you ODH for giving him a second chance!”
