Sonic, an 8 year old Italian Greyhound-Dachshund mix, was surrendered to the shelter by his extended family after his owner passed away. He arrived with a significant heart murmur, which made him an unlikely candidate for adoption. Sonic lucked out when a wonderful and experienced foster welcome him into their family. At his initial vet exam, doctors verified he indeed had a substantial heart murmur and he soon received x-rays and an echocardiogram. He is now on medication that will help stabilize his heart but he will need routine monitoring to make sure the medication is working and his heart remains stable.
Sonic’s foster mom adores him and describes him as a sweet and easy-going dog. She told us: “He grins when he is happy and is limber enough to jump into the window seat and sun himself, or just enjoy the view. When I am feeding the other dogs, he follows behind me dancing up on his hind legs and patting me on the backside until he is fed. He is very submissive and gets along with all the other dogs, even his bossy sister, Classie!”
Sonic is another adorable senior dog, living the best days of his life because of Old Dog Haven and their generous donors.
