Sophia

Look at this lovely, frosted face! Meet Sophia, a 12-year-old mixed-breed, brindle girl who weighs 40 pounds. Sophia is described as being “extremely gentle and sweet”. We are told her tail is always wagging. What a happy dog!

Sophia is loved by the staff at her doggy daycare. She passed her behavioral analyst with “flying colors”! Sophia is well socialized and she enjoys other dogs. This sweet girl is taken to family gatherings where there are children aged 5 and up present and she is “fantastic” with them. While she’s never lived with cats, she is reportedly quite interested in them when she’s on walks. We can’t say this means she could live with cats.

Sophia can manage quite a bit before needing a potty break.  Her human tells us she will take her on a brief walk before leaving the house for work. As she ages, this could change, senior dogs often need more frequent potty breaks.  She has been fine with staying alone in her home when needed, choosing to hang out on the couch or her bed. Her human tells us she will take her on a brief walk before leaving the house for work. When she is home she does almost no barking but get her to a dog park or at her daycare and she barks a lot. This sounds like she has a lot to say to her canine buddies!

At this time Sophia can manage stairs without issue. She enjoys going on long walks and we would hope her new family will continue getting her out and about. Sophia loves to sniff and stretch her legs. Sophia is great on a leash though she will pull out of excitement when she sees her doggy friends but we are told it is only for a bit. When her human is home she will sometimes follow them around however most of the time she just chills out. If allowed she will hop onto the bed with her human to cuddle but she prefers not to stay through the night in the bed.

Sophia’s adopter should plan on providing good quality dog food, and lifelong veterinary care that should include bloodwork, urinalysis and dental cleaning. All of this is so important to help maintain a dog’s quality of life.

Sophia enjoys puzzle toys where she earns a treat at the end. We are told she can see a squirrel from a block away! Sophie sounds like a fun, spry senior girl who will make a great addition to almost any home.
