Mrs. Wicket was surrendered to a shelter with three other siblings. Two were adopted out, and the other was taken into an ODH Final Refuge home; his name is Tigger. Wicket is guessed to be around ten years old and was in pretty bad shape. She had a smile that only a foster mom could love and she was a strange orange color. She had a grade 4 heart murmur that was concerning. She was listed as a Mi-Ki, a costly new designer breed.

Since she came into our home, Wicket has made us laugh more than any other fur baby. Once we got her home, she was bathed, and we were shocked the orange had washed away. She was quickly scheduled for a dental where she had all her teeth removed. Almost instantly, she started eating a full meal and being more playful, leading us to believe that her teeth were affecting her quality of life. We rolled on the floor the first time we heard her squeak or bark. She sounded like a squeaky toy, and once she started, she had no issue letting you know what she wanted.

Wicket likes her own space to go lay down and sleep. She gets moods where she will run out of our bedroom just squeaking away and get our pack of dogs riled up! She is always the first one who knows we are going somewhere and is waiting at the door for the car ride. She knows most commands and even knows how to give high fives but don’t try to kiss her face; she will paw around her face like she is washing away your kiss. She loves to get crazy and play with all our dogs, and it just makes us smile.

We had her echo done recently and did not receive excellent news. She has moderate to severe mitral valve regurg with one leaflet flopping, and the effects from this can result in abrupt respiratory issues or acute congestive heart failure. This means we shower her with love and comfort and pray we have more snuggles and laughs.   Every day with her is a gift.
