Sweet Wilson is a happy, friendly fellow whose favorite place is at your feet with his head in your lap. He bounces with joy when you bring out the leash, and he flops at your feet with a sigh of contentment when you sit down to work or relax, and really there isn’t anything that makes Wilson anything other than happy to be alive. Wilson is an 8 year old mixed breed boy.

This boy loves everybody – he’s not pushy, but he’s happy to accept pets wherever they’re offered. However, he really REALLY loves men. In a perfect world, Wilson would be the best friend and companion of a laid-back older guy. He currently lives with a mixed pack of dogs and gets on well with all of them. Wilson is also friendly and respectful with dogs he doesn’t know. He hasn’t lived with cats, so although his rescuers would expect him to be fine with a confident, dog-savvy cat, they will cat-test him before placing him in a cat-owned home. He has been trained to ignore free range ducks and chickens.

Wilson has the classic Labrador temperament – kind, loving, happy, and a bit goofy. He’s not needy or pushy, but he loves to be petted. He’s a bit of a couch potato and not very fit, but he LOVES going for casual walks, as well as car rides. The rest of the time, he is content to snooze the day away.

Wilson’s house manners are excellent. He’s reliably house-trained, and has no bad habits. Wilson is calm and quiet, rarely barks, and doesn’t dig or try to escape. He doesn’t like the crate but he’s so good that crating him is really not necessary. Wilson’s recall is good and he walks very well on leash, with no pulling.

Wilson has been neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites, and microchipped. His estimated date of birth is February 12, 2016. He is very overweight – he should weigh around 60 pounds – but he’s currently on a controlled diet and is slimming down nicely. Apart from that he appears to be healthy. Full vet records will be provided to his adopter.

Wilson is posted for Hearthfire Rescue. He is being fostered in Kennewick, WA.
