“Hi, My name is Abby. I am a 12 year old Brittany Spaniel hoping to find an adoptive home. One of my lifelong people passed away last year and her husband, my remaining person, recently became unable to care for himself and because of that, he couldn’t take care of me either. His family has moved him to a place called “memory care” and since none of the family can keep me, I am being boarded at my vet clinic. While I appreciate not going to a shelter, a vet clinic is not a real home. Will you help me find a new home?

“I weigh 31 pounds now. I am a cuddly girl who makes a great companion. I have never lived with other dogs or cats but my family will tell you I have been friendly when meeting nice dogs like myself. I am good with kids who are old enough to know “gentle”.

“At this point in my life I don’t appreciate having to “hold it” for long. I have been known to go quite a few hours without a potty break but I’ve also been known to have an accident when I’ve had to wait too long. I try to be good about it but sometimes you gotta go when you gotta go! I do take a medication for incontinence called Incurin. My family will tell you all about this and share my medical records with you.

“Do you like to go for walks? I DO! I LOVE walks. I can pull a little but I’d bet if I got to go for walks every day, I could learn to slow down and not pull. I will bark when I’m startled. But don’t you make a surprised sound when you aren’t expecting something? I can manage stairs and stay alone when I need to inside the house. I am accustomed to having people around; I really enjoy that and I promise to keep you company and make you smile.

“If you can’t adopt me, maybe you know someone who can? My dream is to find another loving home, one that is forever, that I will never lose. A gal my age shouldn’t have to go through another rehoming. I’m ready to be your forever friend!”

Abby is located in Bellevue, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
