Bear

“Hi! My name is Bear. I find myself needing a home quickly, as my people are military folks who are going overseas. They cannot take me along and have decided it’s best to find an adoptive home for me. I haven’t been with this family long! I just made it here earlier this year when my last owner posted me on Facebook and said he couldn’t keep me anymore. I really hope to find a home I can finally stay in forever.

I am only 10 years old. I weigh 55 pounds, which for some may be considered a “medium” sized dog. My current people say I’m a Great Pyrenees, but I am not too sure about that. I may have some of that grand breed in me but what I do know about myself is that people see me and say “What a handsome boy!”

Not only am I handsome on the outside, but my nature is also good too. I am good with other dogs, cats, and kind children. I get excited when I meet other dogs! I want to make friends, but I can be a bit jumpy about it. This could bother some dogs, so let’s make sure when we meet, we start off on the right foot or paw, in our case!

During the day, I’ve been good about staying home with the humans away. I need to get out to potty every 4 hours or so. In a perfect world, I’d not have to wait too long before potty breaks, and someone would be around to play door monitor. I like to hang out in the yard sometimes, but with the weather changing to cold and wet soon, I don’t want to be left outside for long hours. I will tell you that NO dog likes that!

I am not a barky dog. I like to howl instead. I will sleep on the bed or couch when I am allowed, which I really hope will be the case in my new home. I really enjoy exercise and would be happiest in a home where I get out for walks. I do pull in my excitement if we come across a dog, so you should be able to manage that.

I can manage stairs without a problem at this time. Just like humans, we dogs can develop arthritis and other medical issues we need help with. Unlike humans, we can’t tell you what hurts, so I hope my adopter will be able to afford my veterinary care and healthy dog food. Providing me with this can help to keep me around longer.
