Bear
Loving, happy boy
“Hi! My name is Bear. I am a 9-year-old chocolate labrador retriever who weighs 95 pounds. Big life changes in my home have occurred and because of that, my person recognizes I need to find a new home. I am looking for an adult-only home where I can relax and enjoy life again!
“Currently, I spend most of my day in my kennel in the backyard. At night I come inside and sleep in my kennel. I would like to go back to living inside my home, out and about not always in the crate when I’m inside. Before the family grew, when it was just me and my person and his other dogs. I was in the house with other dogs, coming and going as we pleased. I have been ok with cats. I am a friendly boy! Please be sure to introduce me properly to your animals if you have some at home already. You can set me up for success in doing so. It’s so important to do this when you bring a new dog or cat into your family.
“Right now my person can’t tell you exactly how often I need a potty break. When I move into my new home, we can work out those details! Of course I’d rather not have to wait long hours to relieve myself-trust me, NO dog likes to do that. At my age I’m a “young” senior. I show no signs of arthritis at this point, I can still manage stairs. Please have a plan in place for me as I age if I become unable to manage stairs. I don’t want to lose my home because I can’t manage stairs anymore, I heard that happens to some old dogs.
“I would REALLY love a home with people who have time for me. I’d love to go for daily walks. I need someone who can manage my size and strength when I’m on a leash (which is how I should be walked). I can get excited and may pull some. Practice makes perfect! The more time I can get out and stretch my legs, the better I can become on a leash. I love to play fetch. I used to love going to the beach and running around. It would be awesome to enjoy those activities again.
“When I am bored, I will bark. I don’t like when dogs get too close to me when I am eating-but who likes that?! Aside from those two things, I can’t say anything bad about myself. I am a loving, happy boy. I love people and love to cuddle. Maybe I am the dog you have been looking for, the devoted friend you need? I am ready to start my new life if you are able to commit to me for the rest of my days.”
