“Hi! My name is Bella. I am an 8-year-old, 18-pound beagle-dachshund mix. I need an adoptive home very soon. I haven’t done anything wrong; I don’t cause any trouble. It’s just that my caregiver cannot keep up with having 2 dogs.

I was brought to Washington after I was adopted from a shelter by a man who had never had a dog before. After a week, he decided a dog was not what he really wanted, so his kind relative sent for me to live with her. I am so glad I didn’t have to go back to the shelter! She has taken very good care of me, even having me spayed recently. Can you believe the shelter adopted me out without doing that first?! I am healed up now and ready to go!

As I mentioned, I live with another dog now. I do really well with this dog. I will bark at dogs we see when we are out and about, but that doesn’t mean I can’t live with another dog again. If you have a welcoming dog that would like to hang out with me, that could be nice. While I’ve not lived with a cat recently, I don’t react to those I see. Kids can be enjoyable when they are older and kind.

During the day, I hang out with my dog buddy and my person. I’d rather not spend a lot of time alone. Because my caregiver is retired, she is home a lot, so we get lots of potty breaks. I have been reliable with my potty habits. If you have a home with a fenced yard I can go out into, that would be fantastic! Apartment life is not for me. I bark when people or dogs walk by. What do you expect? I am part dachshund AND beagle! Neither of those breeds is known for being quiet.

I have many great qualities! I love to go for long walks. This means I can motivate you to keep moving. I know and follow a few verbal commands. I am playful; I make people smile when I play fetch with my stuffie. I will run and get it, then lay it at your feet and look up at you with my pretty eyes. I can manage stairs without a problem. I am a young senior! With good veterinary care and good food, I could be around for many more years. I am a cuddly girl who likes to get under the blankets. My caregiver tells me that I am beautiful and smart.

If you are looking for a new best friend, one you can commit to, I am ready for you! I want to settle into my new home and never leave.”
