10 year old Blackjack is a 125 pound South African mastiff mix. What a big, handsome dude!  Blackjack is looking for a child-free home. He has lived his life with another dog and we are told Blackjack does well when meeting new dogs but puppies stress him out. Blackjack has lived with cats.

Blackjack has never been left alone without the company of another dog. It’s reported that he can manage quite a few hours before he needs a potty break. Of course he is accumstomed to living inside and staying inside while his people are away. Blackjack knows many verbal commands in both English and Spanish. He is crate trained and when you tell him to go to his crate, he does so.

Blackjack doesn’t require a lot of exercise but he enjoys walks and playtime. This is a big dog and a lot to manage on leash. One must be able to manage his strength as he doesn’t always heel when told. Since Blackjack is a smart guy who already knows some verbal commands, we’d bet with some leash training, he could learn some leash manners.

We are told that Blackjack has some benign lumps, he’s had some removed in the past. His owners can tell you more about that and his overall health. His people describe him as a very sweet, loving dog who does tricks for treats. Blackjack is a great watch dog who can also be goofy and give you a great big smile when he’s happy.

Blackjack is posted for his owner in Olympia, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
