In April of this year, Old Dog Haven was contacted about Buddy (black dog) and Tucker (tan), a pair of bonded Shih Tzus in need of a new home after their owner passed away. Finding a home for both dogs was a challenge, but this adorable duo is now enjoying their new life in a forever foster home together!

When they arrived, it was clear that Buddy and Tucker had been very loved by their previous owners, but both had multiple medical issues that had gone untreated. Buddy had a heart murmur and required an echocardiogram and x-rays to safely undergo anesthesia. Tucker was very overweight, had arthritic knees, and suffered from chronic ear infections. Both dogs were in need of dental care, and when they had their dental surgery, the doctor removed over 47 teeth between them!  Thanks to your generous donations, each dog is getting the medical treatment they need to find comfort in their everyday lives.

Tucker and Buddy’s foster mom calls them truly special and endlessly amusing. We loved what she told us about their different personalities!

“Tucker is a little tank, in every sense of the word. From his sturdy build to his unwillingness to let anything slow him down, he charges through life looking for the next treat. He fiercely protects his favorite chirping little mouse toy (actually a cat toy) and he has the cutest little waddle when he runs. I tell people all the time that Tucker is the easiest dog I’ve ever met. He’s laid back, doesn’t fuss, he’s loyal, gentle, patient, and a great pal.

“Buddy is a bit different. He’s cautious around new people, loud noises, stationary objects, unworn shoes, and at times his own food. He has a treat dance, a potty dance, a why-are-these-cats-here dance, a time-to-walk dance, and my favorite: You’re Home dance. He’s a ride or die kind of guy and my lap hasn’t been cold since he’s come around.

“I’m so grateful to Old Dog Haven for trusting me with their care. We are so happy that Buddy and Tucker were given a second chance to enjoy a safe, forever home where they are adored. I feel so lucky to be able to help them shine in their golden years, and it’s all thanks to Old Dog Haven!”

Your support means so much to senior dogs like Buddy and Tucker and helps us continue to bring them care, comfort and endless joy for the rest of their days.
