Having only 3 legs doesn’t stop Buka from living her best life! Buka is a 10 year old greyhound mix, estimated to weigh about 65 pounds. Buka’s former person had to go into an assisted living home so she could no longer care for Buka. Lucky for Buka, a family member took her in but she cannot stay with him indefinitely. Buka needs an adoptive home and soon!

Buka has lived with other dogs and cats. We are told she does fine with them as well as older, respectful children. Because she was accustomed to not being left alone, Buka does exhibit anxiety when she’s left completely alone. Her caregiver states she does much better when she has at least one other friendly dog in the home for companionship. Buka and any resident dog should be given time to acclimate to each other. At this time her caregiver takes her to a friend’s house for the day when he has to go to work so she won’t be alone. She can manage a few hours between potty breaks.

Dogs should be shown patience and understanding each and every time they lose their home, their person and way of life. We’d like to believe Buka can find a home with someone who will show her love and understanding. Buka also needs a home with an adopter who can afford her veterinary care. It is unknown when Buka last saw a vet. She lost her leg about 7 years ago when she was hit by an A.T.V.  While she gets along fine without the back leg, she still needs regular vetting (as all dogs do!). Buka can manage some stairs at this time but they could become more difficult for her as she ages. A potential adopter should always take that into consideration. She does “decent” while on leash and enjoys  a walk a day and time to play. Buka enjoys playing with toys.

Buka is a cuddler, a sweet girl who wants to be someone’s best friend. Might you be her special someone?
