Casey
Enjoying her new home and garden.
Sweet Casey is a senior Sheltie that came to Old Dog Haven when her owner could no longer care for her. Casey made her way to her forever foster home in September of 2024.
At first, Casey was shy and unsure, spending her days pacing and adjusting to new sights and smells. It took a week for her to warm up to her foster parents and about a month before she truly settled in. Now she’s a happy, curious girl who’s really enjoying her new life in her forever foster home.
Casey has struggled with many health problems over the years and has had chronic ear infections, arthritis and severe allergies that cause frequent hotspots. Old Dog Haven ensures Casey is being treated for her health issues and now she feels well enough to explore and follow her foster mom around the yard.
Casey loves spending time outdoors with her foster mom, especially weaving through the wildflower bed (never mind the nice paths!). She’s become an unofficial garden helper, spreading seeds and sampling raspberries along the way. One of her favorite games is licking water off the plants as they are being watered.
While she’s not a fan of vet visits, (she prefers hiding under her foster mom’s chair to being examined) she is always spoiled by the staff. At home, Casey discovered her voice and now loudly announces when she feels it ought to be mealtime.
Casey enjoys the company of her foster brother and sister and gets excited when guests bring dogs along for visits. It does not take long before she is resting on a bed, watching everyone move about. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that with patience, love, and a safe place to land, even the most timid of senior dogs can blossom.
Thank you for helping us give dogs like Casey a second chance to live out their golden years surrounded by love, safety and comfort with families of their very own.
