Willie
A very special pup, always remembered
Willie, a 14 year old mini Dachshund, was the victim of cruelty which left him extremely anemic from a long-term flea infestation and critically underweight from starvation. With the help of Old Dog Haven, Willie was quickly placed in an experienced foster home and received urgent medical care to help stabilize him. At his initial vet visit, it was discovered that Willie had cancer that was untreatable. Although he would be a “hospice” dog, Willie was able to gain weight and strength over the course of the next few weeks. He enjoyed sun bathing in the yard, stroller walks with his sister, Carmen, and snuggling by the fireplace with his favorite stuffie named Chicken (his twin!). After Willie had been with his new family for about a month, it was clear one day that he was declining quickly and it was time to say goodbye. Although he was only with his family for a short time, he made a huge impression with his feisty flare, and sweet disposition. He is deeply missed.
