Chica
Outgoing and vocal (at mealtimes!)
Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!
Chica came to Old Dog Haven at the age of 14. Sadly, her owner could no longer care for her because of illness. She was quite shy at first. She had lived with her owner since she was nine months old. Luckily, her former owner had sent along her toy, so she had something familiar to cuddle. She carried it from bed to bed.
Upon her arrival, Chica underwent an extensive intake exam and received all her necessary vaccinations. It was during this process that a grade 5 heart murmur was discovered, leading to her immediate placement on heart medication. Additionally, Chica is a tripod, having lost her back left leg in a regrettable incident with a larger dog during her youth.
Gradually, she has come out of her shell and gets along quite well with the other dogs in the household. Per her foster parents, Chica is very outgoing and vocal, especially at meal or treat time. As you can see from her picture, she has a beautiful smile and a mouth full of teeth, which is rare for her age. She is a happy little dog and has adjusted well to her new household. Thank you to Old Dog Haven; she will receive the best care for the rest of her life.
