Chui Chui and Brownie

What a delightful pair of gals these friends are! Meet Chui Chui and Brownie. Brownie and Chui Chui are about 10 years old. They are chiweenies-dachshund mixes who have lived together all of their lives. Sadly their owner passed away and while family have taken them in and cared for them, they are unable to keep them.

Brownie weighs 11.6 pounds, Chui Chui weighs 13.2 pounds. Currently they are living with other dogs. They do well with other dogs after a “getting used to” and “settling in” period. They can be protective of their food so keeping them separated during meals would be ideal. No one wants to worry about someone else eating their food!  We are told they have lived with cats and extended family report they are unaware that there was any issue with that. It is unknown if these friends have ever been around children.

While they have been accustomed to having someone at home most of the day, we are told they are OK when left at home, as long as they have each other to stay with. Currently there is little foot traffic outside their home but when they lived in their former home it was busier and they did bark when people walked past.

Both girls will need time to learn a new routine and when/where to potty outside. A family member will usually go outside with them to be sure they do their business. We are told that Brownie can urinate a tiny bit when she is picked up out of fear.

Chui Chui and Brownie are good on leash with a harness. While they don’t require a lot of exercise, we’d bet time out for short walks getting to know their new area would be beneficial bonding time with their new people. Brownie’s nickname is “Zippy” as she likes to zip around the house. Chui Chui spins in excitement at mealtime. They sound like such fun little dogs!

Each girl takes apoquel for allergies. They recently had dentals which was very nice of their family to do for them! Of course lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food should be afforded and provided for by their adopter.

These friends are loving and cuddly, enjoying time with their people on the couch or in bed at night. Brownie and Chui have been well-loved, well taken care of dogs and the hope is they can find an adoptive home where that will continue for the rest of their days.
