CJ
Perfect companion and roommate

CJ is an 11 year old Schnauzer that his owner surrendered. This had to be the hardest decision that person had to make since CJ is the perfect dog. We were in love with him the instant we met him and he is joy to our household. When we first got him we already had vacation plans and off we went. He was perfect in the car and in hotels, enjoyed meeting family members (2 and 4 legged), and was curious at all the stops. We were told many times he is ‘so chill’.
Supposedly being 11 years old is a surprise to us and anyone that meets him. He is so energetic that he gets three 1-mile walks each day and these are not slow pokey puppy walks but with proud puppy trots. Everyone says he acts like he is 7 or 8 years old and that we are going to have him a long time (which we really hope for). He greets everyone in his energetic barking schnauzer way, especially on our morning walks. He does however, appear to get sad when the bunnies and squirrels are not as enthusiastic as he is about a meet and greet though.
So why is CJ an ODH dog since he seems so energetic and healthy? Schnauzers are predisposed to lipomas (fatty cells). CJ has about 7 but 2 are so large that we have named them – The Uniboob (chest) and Arnold (left shoulder). These don’t seem to slow him down just like his heart murmur. We are working to determine if there are liver issues also. None of this matters to CJ since he is a very happy little guy.
