Cokoa
Ready to be your companion
Cokoa is a darling, 10 year old shih tzu/yorkie who weighs just a smidge over 9 pounds. Described as “a wonderful companion”, Cokoa is a loving girl who enjoys spending time with her people. No doubt she’d love to hang out on the couch with her people if she’d allowed to do so.
Cokoa has spent time with family members’ dogs in the past. Since she’s never lived with another dog before, proper introductions and integration into a home with another dog are important. Cokoa has never been observed around cats. She is great with kids who are school aged. Cokoa used to sleep in the children’s beds of her person before they went off to college. Cokoa would LOVE to get back to sleeping with her human at night!
Currently Cokoa spends the weekdays alone while the humans are off at work. She can manage quite a few hours between potty breaks at this time. She’d rather not though! Cokoa would love a home where people are home more often. As most dogs will, Cokoa barks to alert you that someone is at the door.
Cokoa is a young senior! She loves to play with her ball. Cokoa has been known to get protective of her toys so it’s important not to tease her (no one should ever tease a dog!). Cokoa enjoys play time outdoors though she does not appreciate rainy weather. Walks are fun for Cokoa as well as the person on the other end of the leash! She is well-behaved on leash and appreciates a 30-40 minute walk each evening.
We are told Cokoa can take stairs but does so slowly. This could be from arthritis developing or her eyesight. Her owner states her eyesight has decreased. Cokoa will need an adopter who can get her vetted, giving her a full senior veterinary exam. Her owner notes she needs a sedative to help her relax for trips to the vet and groomer. Regular veterinary care, grooming and good quality dog food should be provided for Cokoa by her adopter. This lovely girl will make your efforts and care for her well worth it!
Cokoa is located in Lynnwood, WA. For contact information, please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
