Meet Cooper, the handsomest, best Aussie boy you’ll ever meet. While he at first comes across as serious, that is typical Aussie reserve, he’s just processing information like Aussies do. In reality Cooper is a sweet and goofy doggo and getting goofier every day he’s in his foster home.

Cooper is 10-years old, a very well-behaved senior Aussie. He weighs about 50 pounds, is neutered, and up to date on his rabies vaccine. Even though he is considered a senior, you’d never guess it from his activity level and energy.  Aussies are notorious for acting like puppies well into their teens so Cooper is just being what he is.

Cooper loves walks, petting, and treats although he loves treats the best. He likes playing with a ball but adores his stuffed hedgehog toy. He’s a good companion, hanging out with his foster person when they’re home. But he’s okay with being alone too, no separation anxiety in this boy. Cooper does well on his leash walks but is interested in other dogs, especially ones that bark at him. A few well-timed treats gets his attention back on you and back to the task at hand, a walk.

His rescuers are still finding out what Cooper knows. He surprised them with his “which hand are the treats in” trick. It will be fun to learn what other cute tricks and games this lad has up his furry leg. He does know basic commands and is very trainable, with treats of course (remember, treats are the best). Cooper rarely barks and loves to go for car rides. He has lived with cats and other dogs but careful introductions are always in order. Cooper can live with older, respectful children.

Cooper ended up in rescue because his people had some life-changing circumstances. He was somewhat confused at first but has settled in and is turning out to be an easy-going, fun buddy. If you’re looking for a dog who can accompany you almost everywhere, who is quiet but has an on-button, who will give you years of friendship and love, Cooper might be the one for you.

Cooper is posted for Western Australian Shepherd Rescue. He is located in Portland, OR. If you are interested in adopting him, please fill out the application on their website at:
