Snowball is a very pretty, senior havanese who weighs 13 pounds. Her exact age is unknown as she was a stray to a local shelter. She is an old girl estimated to be at least 12 years old. This poor girl arrived in terrible shape. A lot of effort and care has been put into her in the hopes that she will find an adoptive home with someone who is patient, kind and will continue providing her with the lifelong veterinary care and grooming she will require.

While at the shelter Snowball shared a kennel with other dogs.  Currently, Snowball is living with her rescuer who has another dog. Her rescuer states that Snowball mostly ignores her dog, it is unknown how she would react to a cat in the home. Because of her age, Snowball’s rescuer feels she should have a child-free home.

Snowball has limited vision and hearing. Snowball suffered longtime neglect and as a result of that, she has had horrible ear infections. No doubt those infections contributed to hearing loss. Her rescuer has treated those and had a benign growth removed from one ear. One will have to continue to monitor her ears for infections, keeping her ears clean to help prevent more infections. Snowball had a much-needed dental as well and we are told she has recovered well.

The hope is that Snowball will find a home with someone who is home more often than not. She is a sweet old girl who needs potty breaks every few hours. We are told Snowball does not display anxiety when she must be left alone. A home without stairs is imperative as she has taken tumbles down stairs.

It sounds as though Snowball is a pretty laid back girl, she sleeps most of the day. She will wander the house at night if she is not crated at bedtime. Snowball does not bark! But she will whine quietly to let you know she needs to potty or when she is unsettled. Snowball does not ask for much attention nor is she a lap dog.  Recently she has begun to wag her tail when she found her rescuer! She will settle by her rescuer’s feet and fall asleep after following her around for a bit.

While exercise is not part of her routine, we are told she will walk on leash but slowly. Snowball is good during a car ride. There are so many times we wish we could know more about a dog’s history-where they came from, how they lived but dogs live in the present. Snowball is feeling so much better with all of the care she has received. Now it is time for her to find a loving home with someone who will accept her for who she is at this point in her life.
