Daisy and Ranger are best friends who are ready to find a home where they can remain together for the rest of their lives. Daisy is an 8 year old terrier/whippet mix who weighs 16 pounds. 9 year old Ranger is a 38 pound plott hound mix. The pair have been together since they were puppies.
Ranger and Daisy have spent their lives around many different animals, other dogs, cats and even goats. Both dogs have been known to chase unknown kitties, so we’d recommend a home with cats who are dog savvy and able to get away as needed. We’d hope in time the pair would get to know that cats and leave them alone as they have done in the past. Ranger enjoys other dogs, whereas Daisy has less confidence; she does get nervous and shy when meeting new dogs. Time to acclimate after proper introductions will help with the integration of Daisy and Ranger into their new home. Because Daisy is a sensitive soul, the belief is that she would be happiest in a home without young children. At this time she lives with a teenage child and that suits her just fine!
Currently the pair stay outside in a covered area with a large fenced yard during the day. In the afternoon they are able to come inside and use a doggy door when needed. With their previous owner they were accustomed to staying inside all day long because she was home during the day. The hope is that the pair will find a home where there doesn’t need to be time when they have to remain outside, especially during inclement weather. We are told both are house trained, managing qutie a few hours between potty breaks. They are trained to use a dog door.
Both dogs will bark if there’s a commotion but they will stop when told “No bark!”. Daisy and Ranger are said to be great on leash. They enjoy trail and beach walks. Daisy can get a bit nervous if she sees other dogs or humans while out and about but her response is to back away. Ranger and Daisy sound like fairly active dogs who will thrive in a home where they can exercise daily.
These are young seniors who show no sign of arthritis. They can both manage stairs. An adopter should be willing and able to provide for these friends lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food. Neither dog has ever been crated. At night they’ve slept with their human or on their dog bed.
Ranger and Daisy’s person had to go into assisted living after a life-changing fall. Family has stepped up to care for the pair; however, this is not a permanent home. These loving dogs sound like fun friends who each have something different to offer, they will surely complete someone’s home!
