Duke – Adopted with his brother Luke!!
Sweet and reserved
Here is Duke, whose shelter ID number is A748120.
Duke is a sweet and reserved 8-year-old boy. Duke is a 13-pound dachshund mix. This shy boy is a bit unsure when meeting new people, but a quiet and gentle approach wins him over right away. He loves to be talked to, sitting and listening attentively as long as he’s getting head pats or rump scratches.
Duke is low maintenance when it comes to exercise and would be fine with a yard to wander about in or short on leash outings when it suits his people. He seems to really enjoy lying in the sun, exploring the dog wading pools and sprinklers.
Duke came with his brother Luke, and while they are doing okay kenneling separately, they would probably enjoy being reunited in a home. Duke has also gone to Little Dog Playgroup and is companionable with dogs aside from his brother. His history with cats and young children is unknown.
Medical statement from the shelter: Duke came in with some hair loss on his rump, around the base of his tail, and on his thighs. We suspect allergic flea dermatitis, as he did have fleas at intake. He has since been treated with a preventative. Duke also has an arrhythmia associated with his respiration. It may be benign, stress-related, or due to underlying heart disease. It is recommended that adopters follow up with their veterinarian.
