Lady Bird
Active and enthusiastic
Lady Bird is a 70-pound Lab/American Staffordshire Terrier mix in need of an adoptive home. At 14-15 years old, this dear girl is in need of a committed, adoptive home soon. Lady Bird is a sweet girl who loves to lie her head in a lap.
While she has lived with dogs in the past, she would rather not share her home with another dog. Lady Bird has lived with several cats, and she has never had an issue with any of them. Lady Bird sounds like she could join a family with children who are gentle and respectful.
When the humans must leave the house, Lady Bird is safe and content in her crate. Of course, long hours in a crate should not be a regular occurrence for a dog, especially one of Lady Bird’s age. Lady Bird is crate-trained because, two years ago, she ate a sock while her humans weren’t home. During the day, when her people are home, she likes to keep them company. At night, Lady Bird sleeps in bed with her humans.
Don’t let her age fool you! Lady Bird appreciates her walks, and she enjoys chasing her ball around in the yard. This is great! Staying active is good for all of us. Lady Bird can still pull while on leash, so one should be able to manage her size and strength. We are told Lady Bird can still manage some stairs, though we would be mindful about how many stairs a home has because she could certainly become unable to climb them as she advances further into her golden years.
Like so many dogs and people, Lady Bird has some allergies. Her vet has said it could be related to diet and environment. Her left ear needs regular cleaning, and she should stick to the diet that has proven to keep her itch-free. It is important that Lady Bird’s adopter is able to afford her veterinary care and specific diet to keep her comfortable.
At this stage of her life, Lady Bird is not a dog who should land in a shelter or in a home where she will not be properly cared for. Lady Bird has a mellow energy that comes with age; she sounds like a dog who will be a lovely companion.
