Duke and Luke
A loving duo
Duke and Luke are bonded brothers. They landed in the shelter after their owner passed away. The pair are almost 9 years old. They are dachshund mixes.
Luke is a little on the chunky side, he weighs 18 pounds. Duke weighs 13 pounds.
At first, the shelter thought they could be adopted out separately, but once they went to a shelter foster home, it was plain to see they are deeply bonded. We are thrilled they are posted together now, ready to find an adoptive home where they can remain for the rest of their days. Just look at the sweet photos their shelter foster shared!
The boys love to be together, but as siblings do, they can get annoyed with each other. For the most part, however, they enjoy sleeping and playing near each other. They have done well with other dogs, though because they’re a pair, they could be all one needs! Their history with cats and children is unknown.
Luke sounds like the more outgoing of the two. He is an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home. Duke can be shy at first. A quiet and gentle approach wins him over right away. He loves to be talked to, sitting and listening attentively as long as he’s getting head pats or rump scratches.
Luke has lots of energy, and he loves to play. He will do well with exercise and walks. It could help him trim down as well. Duke isn’t quite as active. He is happy to take short leash walks and wander in the yard.
Finding a home with someone who can afford their lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food is important. We bet these two will make it worth the effort. You will always appreciate the good feeling you will get from knowing you were able to keep them together forever.
