George was picked up as a stray and ultimately surrendered by his owners to a local shelter. He is estimated to be about 12 years old. After losing an eye at an early age due to a traumatic injury it had recently started draining and George needed surgery to prevent future issues with this eye. In addition to this, George needed a dental and appropriate care for his arthritis and luxating patellas (sometimes referred to as “slipped knees”,  i.e. kneecaps that move out of their normal locations).

Once he came to his Old Dog Haven Final Refuge home, he got the veterinary care he needed. His eye socket was fixed and his remaining six teeth (!) were removed. Sweet George was ready to face the next chapter in his life! His ODH family tells us that “he is a happy, funny little guy whose favorite things are hanging out with his family (always keeping an eye on us), waiting for treats, and sniffing every blade of grass on his walks.”

Thanks, everyone for your generous support of ODH and making happy stories like George’s possible!

Update: Sadly, George’s foster family had to say goodbye to him just days short of his 5 year gotcha date. Their expert care and love bought him 5 years he would not have had otherwise. George was very charismatic with lots of fans.  He will be sorely missed.

George when he came into ODH care – lots of work needed!
