Gidget was left at a local shelter after her elderly owner was put in assisted living.  When the shelter cleaned her teeth, they found she had a tumor on her jaw and she was deemed unadoptable. Old Dog Haven stepped in and placed her in the final refuge program.

It turns out Gidget’s tumor is really slow growing.  She’s been with her foster mom for 4 years (!) and is the queen bee of her household.  She is a bit of a loner and ignores the other dogs in the home, but boy does she love her foster mom!  Her favorite time of day is first thing in the morning when she gives her mom a face bath and ear cleaning, then has a good snuggle to start her day.

Recently, Gidget’s tumor has spread to her throat, and she now must be hand fed soft food to ensure she gets enough to eat.  Old Dog Haven will keep her comfortable as long as they can, and she will be loved forever.

Update:  It was finally time to say goodbye to sweet little Gidget.  The tumor could no longer be managed so she was sent on her way with so much love.  She was able to be with her Final Refuge family for almost 6 years which is an amazing feat for such a little girl.  Gidget will be truly missed.
