Grace is a black and tan longhaired Dachshund, around 12 years old. When she came into care, just before Thanksgiving 2013, she had been severely neglected. She was weak, overweight, and her teeth were so badly abscessed that the only option was to have all of her teeth removed. She has thrived in her ODH home despite inoperable cancer, and spends her days bossing around her two foster brothers and happily going for walks around town. She also has helped several children overcome their fear of dogs — after all, she is small, friendly, and toothless — and served as a teachable moment on the importance of brushing to many more.

Update:  Grace’s cancer finally caught up to her, far later than we might have expected. She had nearly 3 years with her ODH home, was much loved and will be remembered with a smile.
