“Holly is my name, being silly is my game! I am an 11-year-old French bulldog who weighs 30 pounds. While my true age is 11, my family will tell you I act like I am a spry 5-year-old sometimes. They say I am a clown. I make them laugh. I am a very good girl who tries hard to make everyone happy. I am not always silly, though; I can follow a few verbal commands. I do bark sometimes. I don’t bark a lot, but I AM a dog!

“You may wonder why you are seeing me here. I am  “all that and a bag of chips” but my people are busy. Too busy to be home, and it’s hard on me. They hope to find a home with someone or people who aren’t running here and running there. My person had to go back to the office, and that’s been a big bummer for me. I am gated off in the kitchen now when everyone is gone. If you can work from home, I won’t be a pest. I just like to have someone around…I can manage about 5 hours without a potty break if I must, but I would prefer not to have to hold it so long. When nature calls, it’s nice to get out and do your business. Sometimes I can have accidents! So avoiding that would be great.

“I have lived with another dog, and we have been fine together. But I don’t like every dog. A girl can be choosy! I don’t want to live with a puppy or dog who will bounce on me. If you have a dog already and you’d like to meet me, let’s meet up first so that we can do smart introductions. I can’t tell you how I’d react to a cat as I’ve never lived with one, nor have I seen one before. Kids are TERRIFIC. As long as they are nice to me and not too young. The youngsters are scary. They don’t know how to treat a dog; the adults don’t always pay attention, and I’d rather not have to worry about that.

“As it happens with all of us who are blessed to age, I have some arthritis. My people give me tasty joint supplements. I can still do stairs at this time, but that could become more difficult as time goes on. Not to toot my own horn, but I’m great on leash. My people take me for short walks, and we enjoy them. It is good for all of us to keep moving! I can be your motivation to take a daily walk. Just remember, I am a brachycephalic breed. That means smooshed face. I should not be allowed to overheat. So walking in cooler temperatures and never EVER leaving me in a car that will heat up fast is important. When Winter comes, I like blankets and even wearing clothes!

“Please don’t consider adopting a dog you can’t afford to take proper care of. Having a long life of suffering is not good for anyone. We dogs are stoic; we will plug along in spite of a lack of care, but that is not fair to us. I will need a dental. Imagine if you never brushed your teeth or saw the dentist; yours would be too! Having regular veterinary checkups, caring for my big eyes, ears, all the parts that make me so special, is going to help me stick around longer. Think of my care as an investment in your happiness!

“Give me time to settle into my new home, and I think you’ll be very glad you adopted me. I love people, cuddling, sleeping in the bed with my humans, and making people smile.”
