Isaac

Isaac is a 13 year old shepherd mix that came to Old Dog Haven when his original owner passed away after a sudden illness. This beautiful, senior boy fit right into his final refuge foster home and charmed everyone in the house. Isaac’s foster dad reports that the resident dog and two cats are usually nervous around other animals but seemed to like Isaac instantly because of his polite and gentle personality. It has taken a little while for Isaac to settle in and he is still adjusting to all of the changes in his life. Every day he seems to become more comfortable and is finally realizing that he is safe and in his new home.

Isaac had not had consistent medical care over the years but now that he is an Old Dog Haven final refuge dog, all of his medical needs will be taken care of for the rest of his life.  At his first vet appointment the doctor said he had one of the worst sets of teeth they had ever seen. He had loose and broken teeth and they found an infection in the bone and gums. He has now finished the first of his two dental surgeries and after being treated with antibiotics and pain medication, he is starting to feel much better.

This big boy’s favorite things to do are explore the back yard and go for long walks. His foster dad reports that Isaac stays very close to him and he is overjoyed that his true personality is starting to come out. Many days you will find Isaac relaxing on the couch or sleeping the day away with his foster brother and two cats. His foster dad is honored to have him as a part of the family and considers it a beautiful gift to be able to care for Isaac in the last chapter of his life.
