We wanted to introduce you to Jenny. Jenny made her way to her Old Dog Haven home in August of this year after her owner passed away suddenly. She was sent with many belongings, including dog stairs, clothes, and toys.

Jenny needed a lot of medical care when she arrived. She hadn’t been to the vet in 5 years and had suspected but unconfirmed inflammatory bowel disease. She had bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and on again off again eating. She was very skinny, and her fosters had a difficult time getting her to eat. Jenny had her intake exam, then an ultrasound to check out her gut area. It was suggested that she have a follow-up with an internist. More blood work and testing were done, and now she is feeling great, taking daily medication, and she is on a diet that is appropriate for her chronic G.I. condition.  Jenny will undergo a dental procedure soon, which will increase her comfort even more.
Jenny’s fosters tell us she is a sweet snuggler. She likes to be brushed and likes to go into the yard and barn with her foster if it’s not raining too hard. One of her favorite things to do is to follow her foster to the pasture where she throws hay for the horses. Now that she feels better, Jenny runs as fast as she can when she is out spending time with her fosters. She has been camping and sailing with her family. What a new, fun life Jenny has!

Jenny loves being close to her fosters. She has a big “sister”, a younger rescue dog she hangs out with. The dog stairs she arrived with have come in handy because she loves coming up on the couch, chair and TV watching futon with her fosters. Jenny came with a toy she loves more than any of the others – a little dog with a green hat. Her foster says that Jenny goes crazy when she gets that toy out to play with. Jenny carries the toy up those stairs to hang onto when she watches TV with her people. Isn’t that adorable?

Jenny’s forever foster told us “Jenny is seven pounds of feistiness and fun, and we love her. Jenny is a joy and a light in our lives!”
We are so happy for little Jenny; she sounds like such a happy senior dog. This is exactly what we hope for every Old Dog Haven dog. Thanks to all of you who help make that happen!

Update: Jenny’s fosters had to say goodbye to the tiny maltese mix who entranced everyone she met. She had many medical struggles and saw two different specialists to help her feel better.  She had a seizure and was put on meds that made her feel much better for several days, but then she suddenly crashed. The doctors diagnosed a brain tumor.  The meds for that plus the GI disease she was already being treated for were too much for her little system to handle.  Her fosters really adored her and are devastated, but we love the happy life she had with them.
