Koko and Shadow are best gal pals ready to find an adoptive home where they can remain together. These lovely mixed breed girls were adopted from a shelter 5 years ago by an owner who is now elderly and unable to care for them. A temporary home was found for the girls to go but they need a committed forever home. If necessary, they can be adopted out separately though they are said to be bonded.

Both dogs are approximately 9 years old. Koko is the bigger girl of the pair, she weighs 70 pounds. Shadow weighs about 55 pounds. We are told Koko and Shadow are good with other dogs and children.  A home with dog-savvy cats may be fine for them. We are told Koko and Shadow are good with other dogs, cats and children. They are loving dogs who are described as “friendly and gentle”.

Shadow and Koko are accustomed to having a dog door they can use to go outside to potty as needed. They have been known to have accidents if left too long without access to get outside.  No dog likes to have to “hold it” for too long!

Koko is allergic to chicken and has a tendency towards allergies; she takes the drug Apoquel to help with that. Sometimes she needs medicated drops for her ears. It’s important to keep up on her care so that she can stay healthy and comfortable. Shadow can be more sensitive to loud noises, trazodone has helped her with that. The girls’ adopter should be able and willing to afford and provide their lifelong veterinary care as well as good quality dog food.

The girls love going for walks and trips to the dog park where other friendly dogs play. Shadow is said to be better behaved on a leash, whereas Koko can pull a little. Time should be given for each dog to learn who their new human is and exhibit good recall before taking them off leash in a dog park. Too many dogs become lost early after adoption. We don’t want this to happen to either of these sweethearts! Shadow and Koko can manage stairs at this time in their lives.

If you want to share your bed with these two, they’d love that, but if not allowed, they will find their dog beds or the couch to sleep on. We are told neither girl barks much. Shadow can be more sensitive to loud noises, trazodone has helped her with that.

Shadow got her name because she loves chasing shadows on a sunny day. Koko is described as “highly sensitive and emotionally intelligent”. The girls sound like a really fun, affectionate and devoted pair. We believe they will make a wonderful addition to any home!
