Lizzie
Eager for a new beginning
“Hi! My name is Lizzie, and I am losing my family and home. I need to find an adopter-FAST! I am 11 years old and weigh 70 pounds. I am a pit bull who used to have 2 dads. One passed away, and now the other one is dying. I have been a well-loved dog. It’s been a hard, sad time. Extended family has been trying hard to find someone to adopt me because none of them can.
I was adopted from a shelter 7 years ago. I have had 7 wonderful years being an only dog. Before my adoption, I lived with other dogs, but since I haven’t in so long, no one is sure if I can live with another dog again. I definitely should not go to a home with small dogs or small animals. I chase cats, and I am a danger to them. So I absolutely need a NO CAT HOME. Kids are great. I appreciate children who are old enough to know how to treat a dog with kindness. Sometimes the younger ones don’t because they don’t know better.
If you have to leave the house, I can stay alone and hold my potty for a few hours. I have become accustomed to having my people around because, well, they’ve been sick and I have stayed close to comfort them. I will need time to settle in, and my box of stuffed toys and blanket that I like to suck on will help. I like hanging out on the couch and snuggling under blankets when the weather is cool. When the weather is nice, I enjoy strolls outside. I am good on a leash. Beach trips or rides in the car around town are great fun.
A place with too many stairs can be hard on me. I have pain in my hips called “dysplasia”. My people have given me medicine from the vet that helps: gabapentin and carprofen. I need this to keep from feeling pain. I am not much of a barky dog; people seem to appreciate that about me.
I’m hoping that very soon I will find a new home to go to. I have heard family talking about me going back to the shelter my dads adopted me from. I really don’t want to. Will my box of stuffies come, my special blanket? I don’t think so, and this worries me. If you are looking for a new best friend and would like a companion who is loyal and loving, please consider me. If you are not able to adopt, tell your friends and family about me! Sharing me could spare me going back to the shelter.”
