“Hiya! My name is Lucy. I am a 12-year-old Australian Shepherd mix. My exact weight is not known, but the best guess is about 40 pounds.

This past year has been a lot! My lifetime owner died. When that happened, I went to live with a very nice family. I have been here about a year now, but over this year the man has become very ill. He cannot care for me, and it has been decided that it would be best for me to find a new home. A family member came from another state to help try to find a home for me. Unfortunately, she can only stay here until next month. I must find a new home before she goes back home!

I have lived with other dogs in the past but not for a while. This past year I was an only dog, and I liked it a lot! My man’s family member brought her dog with her, and I am jealous of the attention that dog gets. I try to get in between them when he’s around. I am fine with cats; I ignore them. Kids can be fun, as long as they are kind and old enough to understand being gentle to a dog.

In my first home, I was kenneled when they left the house. In my current home, I have not been kenneled and guess what-I like that! Before he got sick, my man took me everywhere. It was awesome. I understand that not every human can do that. It is actually healthier for me to be fine with being left alone when the humans leave the house. This is something we can work on in my new home. Think if you lost 2 homes in as many years, you’d want to be shown patience and understanding. I have adapted well before and could do so again. My biggest hope is that this next move is my last one. I want to stay forever in my next home.

Going for car rides is great fun. I love my toys! I also love playing fetch and keep-away. I make walks enjoyable because I am good on leash. Stairs are not a problem for me now. I look good and feel good too! Many people comment on my good looks.

At night, I sleep on my dog bed; during the day, I’m very happy to hang out with my human. I am not a barky dog. I love people and give big smiles to greet you. I have so much love, loyalty, and friendship to offer. If you are looking for a companion and you are able to commit to my care for life, I am ready for you!”
