Marley
Sweet and independent
“Hi! My name is Marley. I am a 10-year-old male goldendoodle. Don’t know what a goldendoodle is? That is a mixed breed of golden retriever and poodle. I weigh 32 pounds, which means I am not a tiny dog but not a large dog either; I am just the right size for many people!
My people will tell you that I am a sweet, friendly dog who gets along with everyone. I have never lived with another dog, but I’ve been around many dogs for short periods of time, and I’ve never had a problem with them. I have lived with cats and done just fine. Kids can be nice to have around as long as they don’t pull on me or rub my face roughly. I have been known to snatch food if I get the opportunity, so for this reason, it’s probably best that I don’t go to a home with young kids.
Once I am accustomed to my new home and new schedule, I should be able to stay home alone without a problem. Maybe I’ll have company? A dog friend or a kitty that will make me feel less alone? I can wait a few hours between potty breaks. I will bark to let you know when someone has come to the door or when we have visitors. I believe I am just doing my job as a dog: no one is going to sneak up on us, and I want all of our visitors to feel welcome!
I am really hoping my new people will take me for walks every day. I love walks! I behave myself on leash even though I’ve never had any training. I have no problem taking stairs at this point in my life. I think of myself as a young senior. With good veterinary care, healthy dog food, and regular grooming (a must for me), I could be around for years to come.
At night, I enjoy sleeping in bed with my humans, though sometimes I’ll sleep on the bedroom floor. My people really appreciate that I like to sleep in. I am accustomed to free feeding. That means my people leave my food out and I graze through the day. This way of eating does not usually work in a home with more than one dog. I could learn to eat on a schedule; I hear many dogs have to do that when they move to a home where there is a dog who could eat ALL of the food! I like to drink out of the bathtub faucet. Don’t ask me why, but I don’t like to drink water from a bowl. My people call this a “quirk” of mine, whatever that means.
So now I have shared all about me. I am in need of an adoptive home as my humans are not able to keep me. They have told me not to worry; they are going to find the best new home for me. They want to find me a safe, happy, loving new home where I can stay for the rest of my life. If I sound like a good match for you, let’s meet!”
