8-year-old Posie is a lovely mastiff girl who weighs 144 pounds. Posie’s owner passed away. Thankfully, her owner had made plans for Posie, and a friend took her in with the intention of finding her the best possible adoptive home. Posie has been understandably confused about what has happened. The hope is the move to her next home will be her last. She sounds like a terrific dog who is going to make a devoted companion.

The goal is to find Posie a home much like the one she had before, as an only pet. Posie is living with 3 other dogs currently. The dogs can see each other through baby gates, and there have been no problems. Posie does not react to other dogs she sees when she is taken on walks. However, she does bark a lot at cats. Her caregiver states she needs a no-cat home. A home without young children would be best for Posie, given her size. While she is an extra-large dog, that doesn’t mean she should be climbed upon or pulled on.

Posie lived with a female retiree. However, she likes all humans! Men, women, and children. She was accustomed to having someone around often. Posie has been fine to stay home alone. Just give her time to settle in. So many life changes can be hard on a dog. Posie can manage a few hours between potty breaks, but she would prefer access to a fenced yard to go out as she needs to through a dog door. She can still manage stairs at this time. Posie takes a daily joint supplement. For her continued comfort, this should continue to help keep her comfortable.

Described as being very well-mannered, Posie is good on leash, and she barks only when someone is at the door. Posie is a soccer player! She plays, and then she’ll enjoy hanging out in her yard. At night, if she’s allowed, she’ll join her person in bed. She is very polite and doesn’t crowd you. What a sweetheart!

At this time, Posie has a couple of benign cysts that her caregiver is going to have removed before she is adopted. We are told these cysts are common in her breed. Posie has been well taken care of, and that should continue with her adoption. She was purchased by a breeder in Minnesota as a puppy. The breeder will take her back if necessary, but that is a long drive that her caregiver hopes to help her avoid. We’d love to help Posie find the best new home where she can remain forever.
