“Are you looking for a devoted, loving, playful and cute buddy? If so, I may be the one for you!

“My name is Max and I’m 12 year old. I’ve been labled a shih-poo which is what you get when you mix a shih tzu and a poodle. I weigh 16 pounds which I think is a good weight for a friend you want to cuddle and go for walks with.

“Speaking of walks, I’m great on leash! I am a playful boy. I have a rubber bone I play fetch with. I will run around the house and a fenced yard too. I can do stairs and go between 4-6 hours without a potty break. I will stay in the house alone when you need to leave, just don’t crate me. Crates bother me. I like to nap throughout the day and I’m happy to sleep in my dog bed.

“I don’t like other dogs. I just have no need for canine friends. I really like people and kids who are old enough to know “gentle”. I can’t tell you what I’d do about a cat. I’ll admit to being a bit on the barky side. But my barking is purposeful!  I don’t bark for the heck of it. I am a very smart boy, after all.

“I have dry eye and my person has been putting ointment in my eyes to help with this. It would be very, very good if I had an adopter who would be willing to take me to an animal ophthalmologist to find out what’s needed to help my eyes. It will make all of the difference in my eye health and comfort now and my vision in the future.

“My current owner hasn’t had me quite a year. She got me from someone who took me in when my original owner passed away. I thought I had a forever home but it turns out my current owner can’t keep me. I long for a home that will be permanent now as while I’m considered a senior, I could have many more years ahead of me. I hope to never had to lose another home again.

“So I ask you now, do you think I’m the friend you’ve been hoping to find? I’m hoping to find a home soon!”
