Max (Cocker)
Delightful boy
“Adorable, delightfully lovable!” is how we responded when we were contacted about Max. Max is a 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel, English Roan mix who weighs 35 pounds. He was the cherished companion of a woman until she sadly passed away. Max would love a home with someone who has the time to spend with him.
At this time, Max is going along with his owner in his truck for work so that he is not left alone at home for long hours. While that is kind of his owner to try to keep Max happy, it is not the life that makes Max happiest. Max can manage all day in the truck without needing a potty break until late afternoon. In his new home, the hope is that he will not have to wait so long. Max goes all night long without a potty break as he sleeps in his kennel. He doesn’t bark much, which can be helpful in some homes. Like most dogs, Max is afraid of fireworks.
Max has never lived with another dog, but is said to do fine with most he meets. Some dogs he finds “scary”. A calm, relaxed dog could be a good match for Max. Max has never lived with a cat, and while he has been curious about those he has seen, we are told he has never been mean to one. Max “absolutely loves kids!” Of course, we would only want Max to land in a home where children have been taught to be gentle and respectful.
When it’s time for a walk, Max is ready to go. He does very well on leash and appreciates daily exercise and activity. He can manage stairs, and at this time, he shows no signs of arthritis. Max is playful and creates his own games to occupy himself! He is said to be a highly intelligent, engaging boy. Max loves attention from his humans. He is a snuggly boy.
Max has always been well-loved. He was rescued as a puppy at 6 months old and has had the same family since then. Max has had regular vet care, been fed a healthy diet, and it shows. While his current person takes care of his physical needs, he cannot spend the time with Max that he craves. It will be wonderful to find a home for Max where he receives both the time and continued care he deserves.
