Darling Millie spent far too long in a shelter after her owner passed away. Staff described her as a friendly girl ‘built like a 34-pound Tonka Truck,’ with a history of urinary tract infections and weakness in her hind end. We were overjoyed when a wonderful foster family stepped forward and welcomed Millie into their home.

Thanks to your generous donations, Millie now has the medication she needs to ease her joint pain and improve her mobility. This playful girl is making the best of her new life as an Old Dog Haven foster dog and her days are now filled with unconditional love and fun.

Millie’s foster mom says that there is nothing more entertaining than a healthy and happy senior dog.

“Millie likes to play with toys, and I can’t help laughing out loud when she gets the zoomies. Seeing her running through the house with those short, little bowed legs while squeaking a toy gives me joy.  She is not going to let a crooked spine and so many bad joints slow her down in the least. She even tries to catch the squirrels in the yard. They are always faster, but she tries again next time she sees one run!

“We try to take her on walks, but she never wants to venture much farther than the end of the driveway. Sometimes she will cross the street but then wants to go right back home to the comfort of her yard and house. She LOVES basking in the sun and I nicknamed her a “love potato” because of her little, round, russet potato colored body that wants cuddles as often as possible.

“We couldn’t help but fall in love with this spunky little gal, who demands attention, then provides loving, soulful looks, sweetness and joy in return.”

Millie is a reminder of how much love senior dogs still have to give, even after all they’ve been through. We are incredibly lucky to have such dedicated and compassionate foster families who open their hearts and homes to ensure that these old dogs can spend their final days surrounded by people who truly love them.
